Goals
- The primary goal in establishing the KCL ECMC is to expand the clinical and translational research trials portfolio. The inter-related objective is to develop translational work that contributes to the trials portfolio by informing on responders and non-responders, generating and validating prognostic signatures and identifying new therapeutic opportunities
- Increase patient recruitment into clinical trials
- Expanding the collection and storage of tissue from patients in the Southeast London Cancer Network, with linkage to a detailed clinical/pathological database
- Linking with existing cancer clinical and histopathological data systems in the Network
- Increase patient recruitment into translational clinical trials.
- Increase production of Investigational Medicinal Products for an expanded clinical trial programme.
- KCL ECMC will provide a standard for tissue collection, storage and utilisation of these resources in translational research based on excellent clinico-pathological data collection.
- Sharing expert knowledge in the areas of genetics/genomics, imaging, cell and gene-based therapy, cutting-edge development in tissue-based proteomics and immunotherapy.
- Dissemination will be through meetings with the wider ECMC and CSG networks, both via individual KCL ECMC members and collectively through organised workshops.
