Glasgow adult centre

The centre develops, leads and delivers clinical and translational programmes focusing on early phase trials in solid tumours and haemato-oncology, spanning commercial and non-commercial studies.

Centre overview

Our Glasgow adult experimental cancer medicine centre (ECMC) works closely with discovery scientists in academic institutions, pharma and biotech partners, Cancer Research UK’s Centre for Drug Development and Blood Cancer UK’s Trial Acceleration Programme.

The centre has strengths in preclinical and phase 1 drug development, histology-independent and basket trials, tumour-focused early phase studies in:

  • colorectal cancer

  • hepato-biliary cancer

  • pancreatic cancer

  • ovarian cancer

  • urological cancer

  • neuro-oncology cancer

  • melanoma cancer

  • haemato-oncology studies (particularly chronic myeloid leukaemia, cell therapies and in the teenage and young adult population)

All trials are underpinned by precision medicine, pharmacodynamic biomarker studies and rich tissue‑based translational research, particularly translational immunology, molecular pathology and spatial biology. This has driven UK and international collaboration.

There is also a paediatric centre in Glasgow.

Expertise

  • gastrointestinal cancer (colorectal, pancreatic and hepatocellular carcinoma)

  • ovarian cancer

  • neuro-oncology (particularly glioblastoma)

  • haemato-oncology (especially chronic myeloid leukaemia and teenage and young adult)
