Scope of membership

Clinical and non-clinical researchers across the UK who have an interest and demonstrated research activity in a relevant subject area are welcome to join.

Ordinary membership of the UK Therapeutic Cancer Network (UKTCPN) is available to researchers at all stages of their career.

Membership is also open to members of organisations such as cancer charities, and to patients or members of the public who have an interest in this field.

Remit

  • Establish a network of clinical and non-clinical researchers with a variety of scientific backgrounds across the UK.

  • Identify areas of strength in the field among research groups across the UK and disseminate this information to facilitate collaboration.

  • Provide infrastructure to organise scientific meetings focusing on therapeutic or dietary interventions for cancer prevention.

  • Increase awareness of the field amongst the cancer research community, governmental organisations and funding bodies.

  • Become widely accepted as the focus of expertise in cancer chemoprevention and other therapeutic interventions to prevent cancer.

  • Become a champion for increased research funding in the field of therapeutic cancer prevention.

  • Provide collaboration among investigators and develop joint grant applications, building on complementary strengths across the network.

  • Promote the translation of pre-clinical research findings into clinical trials of cancer prevention.

  • Provide guidance and support in the development of clinical trials protocols for interventional cancer prevention studies.
