ICR and Royal Marsden paediatric centre
This centre is based at the Oak Centre for Children and Young People and is one of the largest children and teenage cancer centres in Europe.
Centre overview
Our joint Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and Royal Marsden paediatric experimental cancer medicine centre (ECMC) is an Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer European Consortium (ITCC) accredited centre. It runs the largest paediatric and adolescent drug development programme in the UK, which leads on national and international trials of molecularly targeted agents and immunotherapies.
With advanced pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and functional imaging capabilities, this centre is one of only a few in Europe to conduct functional imaging biomarker studies in paediatric and teenage and young adult cohorts. Their goal is to improve the five-year survival of childhood and adolescent cancer by accelerating drug development.
There is also an adult centre at the ICR.
