Leeds paediatric centre

This centre is based at Leeds Children’s Hospital and is an established Principal Treatment Centre for paediatric oncology and haematology.

Centre overview

Our Leeds paediatric experimental cancer medicine centre (ECMC) has a long history of treating children in early-phase clinical trials and is a member of the Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer European Consortium (ITCC).

The paediatric oncology research team is embedded within the Leeds Children’s Hospital Clinical Research Team, promoting shared knowledge and best practice and ensuring clinical research care is delivered to a high quality by staff with appropriate skills. The centre also has a dedicated clinical research facility providing a safe controlled environment to deliver early-phase treatments.

Martin Elliott - Centre lead

Martin is a paediatric oncologist at Leeds Children's Hospital, specialising in the treatment of brain tumours for children. Martin is the UK lead for the European high risk neuroblastoma clinical trial, manages the early-phase clinical trials portfolio for paediatric oncology patients with relapsed tumours and leads the translational research for child health outcomes research in Leeds.

​​Sarah is a senior research nurse in Leeds Children’s Hospital Clinical Research Team. With a background in paediatric oncology and haematology, she has a wealth of experience in this speciality. Her role is to coordinate the portfolio, seek new research opportunities and support clinical delivery staff. Sarah has a keen interest in teenagers and young adult patient care and advanced therapies.​
