Star studded night for TARGET fundraising
Since the New Year The Christie charity has taken up the challenge of raising money for the precision medicine TARGET project which investigates liquid biopsies to inform decision making for precision medicine and has just come to the end of its third part and has to raise six hundred thousand pounds a year for the next phases of the trial.
The year kicked off with The Christie charity ball (pictured above), the largest fundraising night of the year held at Manchester Cathedral. The evening began with a sparkling reception, followed by a delicious four course meal prepared by Master Chef 2015 winner, Simon Wood. Guests were wowed with entertainment from multi-platinum selling artist and BRIT and MOBO award winning singer Gabrielle, and top boy band 5ive who have had 11 top 10 singles and 20 million record sales worldwide.
The evening, attended by Matt Krebs, chair of the TARGET molecular tumour board (pictured below with his partner, Sarah, also a consultant at The Christie) was hosted by TV stars; comedians and Phoenix Nights cast mates Sally Lindsay and Dave Spikey, both long-time supporters of The Christie charity. The evening was supported by The Christie Clinic, a private patient partnership between HCA Healthcare UK and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
Along with other events The Christie charity has raised one hundred and fifty thousand pounds for TARGET trial thus far.
